Hi, it’s Daichi from KOKO Journey.

Today, let me introduce Saiko Iyashi-no-Sato Nenba/Nemba (西湖 いやしの里 根場).

If you’re planning a trip to Mt.Fuji area (Yamanashi / Fuji Five Lakes) for several days, this is one place I recommend — especially to travelers who want to slow down and experience a quieter, more traditional side of Japan.

History of Saiko Iyashi-no-Sato Nenba

Saiko Iyashi-no-Sato Nenba was originally a small village called Nenba, known for its traditional thatched-roof houses and silk farming.

In 1966, a powerful typhoon caused a massive mudslide, and almost the entire village was destroyed.

To preserve this lost landscape, Fujikawaguchiko Town restored the village in 2006, recreating the original scenery as faithfully as possible.

Today, Saiko Iyashi-no-Sato Nenba is now a place where visitors can experience traditional Japanese rural life, featuring restored thatched houses, small museums, craft workshops, and cultural experience spaces.

Feel the charm of traditional Japan as it once was!
