Oishi Park: Always a Great View | Lake Kawaguchiko

Hi, it’s Daichi from KOKO Journey.

If you are looking for the perfect spot to capture the beauty of Mt.Fuji with the lake view, Oishi Park at Lake Kawaguchiko is the place to be.

All the photos in this post were taken by me during our tours.

What does Oishi mean? Is it ” Delicious”?

Oishi Park during the Christmas season.

First, let’s clear up a common mistake. You might hear “Oishi” and think of the Japanese word Oishii (delicious 美味しい). So, does Oishi Park mean delicious?

Well, actually not!

Oishi (大石/おおいし) is the name of this local area. Pronunciation is like “OH – ISHI”.

It literally means “Big Stone.” There is even a shrine nearby that enshrines a legendary large stone (Oishi Jinja Shrine), which is where the name comes from.

In the Morning: The air is crisp and the wind is calm. You have the best chance to see a clear Mt. Fuji reflected in the lake.

Tour Photo Highlights at Oishi Park

Here are a few highlights from my tours. Every moment is special!

In summer, the kochia plants are a vibrant green.
As the kochia turns brown in winter, it starts to look like a broom.
Every season brings different kinds of flowers.

A Little Extra at Oishi Park

Of course, Oishi Park is famous for its stunning views of Mt. Fuji and Lake Kawaguchiko—but that’s not all.

You can also enjoy local soft-serve ice cream and relax at stylish cafés with a view of Mt. Fuji, like Brand New Day Coffee.

My favorite is blueberry and vanilla mix!

Oishi Park is a place where you can feel the peaceful atmosphere of Japan alongside the beautiful Mt. Fuji. Whether you come for the flowers or the view, it’s always worth the trip.
