March Snow at Mt.Fuji area around Lake Kawaguchi and Fujiyoshida

Hi, it’s Daichi from KOKO Journey!
If you’re planning to visit Lake Kawaguchi or Fujiyoshida in March, here is a quick reality check: Don’t pack away your winter coat just yet!
Last week (the end of February) was actually pretty warm around 10 degrees—it almost felt like spring was finally here.
But living here , I know better than to trust the weather in March. Sure enough, it got freezing again today (March 3, 2026) , and woke up to a lot of snow.
Check out my car this morning hahaha

People are often surprised that it snows this much in March, but around Mt. Fuji, it’s totally normal. In fact, we even get snow in April sometimes!
Because we are at a much higher altitude than Tokyo, it’s always way colder up here. If you’re coming from the city, please make sure to bring a heavy jacket and check if your car (even rental ones) has winter tires.
It’s beautiful to see the fresh snow on the mountain, but you’ll enjoy it a lot more if you’re staying warm!
This video is from the day after the snow day in February!
