Honcho Street: The Iconic Mt. Fuji View in Fujiyoshida City

Hi, it’s Daichi from KOKO Journey!
Today, I would like to introduce one of the most iconic views in Fujiyoshida city: Honcho Street.
If you’ve ever seen a photo where Mount Fuji looks like it’s looming right at the end of a classic retro street, this is the place!

Where is Honcho-Street located?
Honcho Street (本町通り in Japanese) runs through the Shimoyoshida area of Fujiyoshida City in Yamanashi Prefecture. The famous Mt. Fuji photo spot is located along this central stretch of road in Shimoyoshida.
Since it’s a street name, there isn’t one official address for “Honcho Street.”
Please check the map below, or simply search “Honcho Street Fujiyoshida” or “本町通り 富士吉田” on Google maps.
It’s about a 5-minute walk from Shimoyoshida Station on the Fujikyu Railway Line, making it very convenient to access.

Right near the main photo area, you’ll find the Shimoyoshida Tourist Information Center. Just stop by here, and you’ll easily find the famous photo spot.
If you need information about Mt. Fuji or current visibility conditions, this is a helpful stop. You can also grab a local map here.

Why Honcho Street Is So Popular
This is why Honcho Street attracts so many visitors:
1. The Iconic Mt. Fuji Street View
A massive Mt. Fuji rising at the end of a nostalgic Japanese street. Retro shop signs, lanterns, and tangled power lines — and then suddenly, Fuji. It’s a one-of-a-kind composition you won’t see anywhere else.
2. Authentic Showa-Era Retro Atmosphere
Honcho Street still feels like old-school Japan. It’s not polished or artificial — it’s a real, lived-in neighborhood shaped by Fujiyoshida’s textile history.
3. Incredibly Photogenic
The perspective makes Mt. Fuji look dramatically close and powerful, especially in the clear morning light. Every angle feels cinematic.
Honcho Street is more than just a photo spot — it’s where everyday life in Fujiyoshida meets the timeless presence of Mt. Fuji.
